About
Artist Alex Gupton’s boundless energy, joy and spirit of fun can easily be found within his art. Alex has spent most of his life living on the Kona coast of the Big Island. The exposure to Hawaii’s stunning tropical landscapes, bountiful undersea life, and rich traditions sparked the passion for the islands that is readily apparent in his work. Whether drawing his detailed pen & ink creations, forming wood and clay into sculpture or any of the other myriad projects that appear in his studio, Alex is constantly pushing the envelope of his talent. He has been exploring new forms of expression as a professional artist for over thirty years. Inspired by his mother, artist Penny Gupton, a lifetime of sketching, drawing and designing have yielded a diverse portfolio of artwork ranging from tiny drawings to large scale murals. Alex has worked with his clients and collectors on a vast number of commissions throughout the United States and beyond. Alex’s work can be seen in fine art galleries throughout the Hawaiian Islands and the mainland US.
Alex makes his home in Kailua-Kona, on the Big Island of Hawaii, with his wonderful wife Jacqueline, a couple of cats, and three adult children that roll in and out as grown kids have a tendency to do.
