We Went to Egypt!
We’ve just returned from two incredible weeks in Egypt! After flying halfway around the world, we landed in the vibrant chaos of Cairo and had the chance to stay in some truly amazing properties. We saw just about everything one could dream of. Our journey began with the iconic Great Pyramids of Giza, where we trekked inside the Great Pyramid, feeling the ancient, cool stone, and took a cheesy, yet utterly amazing, camel ride around the pyramids, soaking in the vast desert landscape. We explored the brand-new Grand Egyptian Museum, a treasure trove of artifacts, and wandered through downtown Cairo, experiencing its bustling energy. We also visited Saqqara, including the sprawling necropolis and the fascinating Step Pyramid.
We then headed south to the serene beauty of Aswan and the monumental Abu Simbel, its colossal statues guarding Lake Nasser. From there, we embarked on a five-night cruise along the legendary Nile, ending in the majestic city of Luxor. We saw just about every temple and sight along the way, from the vividly painted tombs in the Valley of the Kings to the grand temples of Karnak and Luxor, bathed in golden sunlight. To say it was a once-in-a-lifetime trip would be an understatement! People keep asking me if there is a highlight, and it's just not possible to choose one thing that stood out over another...Unbelievable would be a word!
